I love watching the rowing competition in the Summer Olympics. It’s a perfect picture of a team working together to achieve the goal. I’ve always thought it would be cool to try team rowing like that.  

 

God invented team work. Moses, under the advice of his father-in-law, chose and organized others to help lead the millions of Israelites heading to the Promised Land. King David “mustered the men who were with him and appointed generals and captains to lead them” and organized everyone in groups. (Ex. 18:17-25; 2 Sam. 18:1-2)

 

Jesus had many disciples but chose twelve who would serve alongside Him and lead the beginning of the church. The Holy Spirit comes to live in each believer and equip them to serve and build the body of Christ that pursues people who need His love. (Lk 6:12-16; Rm 12:4-8; 1 Cor 12:7-14)

 

He calls men and women to work together to build His church. Staff and elders are part of that, deacons and many others, important to strengthening and building His church. He called you to help lead our church to grow in faith, and love others well. I am so grateful for you and your ministry. I praise our Lord for His call on your heart. Leading and serving can be hard work, yet together we can do all things through Christ. Thank you for caring and shepherding the friends in your Connection Group and Connect 4 families each week.

 

We are His hands and feet, His ears and lips. Thank for being the body of Christ!

 

May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
