Emotionally Healthy Guardrails

The life most of us are living right now is radically different from the one we had merely three weeks ago. Routines we have had for years aren’t just disrupted, they’re completely gone! Now is a great time to rethink how and why we do things, but it’s also a time to be wary and put some guardrails in place to avoid going over a cliff. If you’re like me, you’ve probably already noticed yourself watching WAY too much television or eating too many snacks. We need to put new habits in place to make sure we stay on track.

HERE ARE SOME SUGGESTIONS TO HELP KEEP US ON THE RIGHT PATH AND MAYBE EVEN MAKE SOME IMPROVEMENTS.

  • GUARDRAIL #1 - This is a RACE. You need to plan how you’re going to endure to the end; you can’t run fast the entire way. Take time each day to make sure you work, rest, have fun, and talk with others. (Hebrews 12:1)

  • GUARDRAIL #2 - We need SPACE. Don’t be afraid to take a time out. This is especially important if you’re about to lose your cool or overindulge. This means go be alone with God, not Netflix. (Luke 5:16)

  • GUARDRAIL #3 - Give GRACE. Give it just like you want to receive it… in abundance! (Luke 6:38)

Don’t just drift along during this shelter-in-place, use these guardrails to stay on the road.
